What we believe

The gospel is the center of our life and mission.

These convictions shape our family, our ministry, and the hope we share in Rome.

Our foundation

Historic Christian faith.
Evangelical Protestant convictions.

We serve as evangelical Protestant missionaries and affirm the Statement of Faith of Commission To Every Nation.

The summaries below present the core convictions that guide our life and ministry. CTEN’s complete statement includes fuller language and supporting Scripture references.

01

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible is inspired by God, trustworthy, sufficient, and the final authority for faith and conduct.

02

The Triune God

We believe in one true God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

03

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God: fully divine, born of a virgin, sinless in life, crucified for our sins, bodily raised, exalted, and coming again.

04

Humanity and sin

We believe all people are created in the image of God, yet all have sinned and are separated from Him. Every person therefore stands in need of God’s mercy and redemption.

05

The Gospel

We believe Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became fully human without ceasing to be fully divine, lived without sin, died on the cross in the place of sinners, and rose bodily from the dead.

Salvation is entirely a gift of God’s grace, received through faith alone in Jesus Christ—not through good works, religious identity, personal merit, or human effort. Saving faith is inseparable from repentance, a turning from sin and self-reliance to God. Jesus Christ is the only Savior and Lord.

06

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts, gives new life, empowers believers, forms Christlike character, and gives gifts for the good of the church.

07

The Great Commission

We believe Jesus Christ has commissioned His church to make disciples of all nations, baptizing believers and teaching them to obey all that He commanded.

This mission belongs to the whole church and is carried out through the proclamation of the gospel, the making of disciples, and the strengthening and planting of local churches.

08

The Local Church and Mission

We believe the local church is central to God’s plan for evangelism, discipleship, worship, pastoral care, leadership, and mission.

Missionaries are sent by churches to proclaim the gospel, make disciples, and serve alongside believers in other places.

We therefore value biblical faithfulness, meaningful church life, church leadership, patient discipleship, the development of local leaders, and healthy partnership.

09

The Unity of Believers

We believe all who belong to Christ form one body and are called to worship, fellowship, serve one another, make disciples, and bear faithful witness in the world.

10

Resurrection and Judgment

We believe Christ will return, the dead will be raised, and God will judge with perfect righteousness.

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.”

Romans 1:16
