Statement of faith
What We Believe
Our faith is rooted in the historic Christian gospel and the authority of the Scriptures. We seek to hold firmly to the essential truths of the Christian faith while extending grace in matters on which faithful believers may differ.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God. It is completely trustworthy and is our final authority for what we believe and how we live. We believe the Scriptures form one unified story of God’s work of redemption, centered in Jesus Christ.
God
We believe there is one true and living God who eternally exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is Creator and Lord of all things and is perfect in holiness, wisdom, justice, love, and power.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will personally and visibly return.
Humanity and Sin
We believe every person is created in the image of God and therefore possesses inherent dignity and worth. Through sin, humanity has become separated from God, and every person stands in need of forgiveness and reconciliation with Him.
Salvation
We believe salvation is entirely a gift of God’s grace and cannot be earned by good works, religious observance, or human merit. God freely offers salvation through Jesus Christ to all people, and everyone who repents of sin and places faith in Christ receives forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and eternal life.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts people of sin, brings new life to those who believe, indwells every believer, produces spiritual growth, gives gifts for service, and empowers Christians to live faithfully and bear witness to Jesus Christ.
The Church
We believe the universal church consists of all who have been redeemed through faith in Jesus Christ. The local church is a congregation of believers who gather for worship, prayer, biblical teaching, fellowship, the ordinances, service, and the mission of making disciples.
Jesus Christ is the head of the church. Each local congregation is responsible under His lordship and the authority of Scripture and is led by biblically qualified leaders.
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
We believe baptism is for those who have personally repented and trusted in Jesus Christ. Baptism by immersion publicly identifies the believer with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
We believe the Lord’s Supper was given to the church as a remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice and a proclamation of His death until He returns.
Christian Life and Family
We believe followers of Jesus are called to lives of holiness, love, humility, generosity, justice, mercy, and obedience to God.
We believe God created humanity male and female and established marriage as the covenant union of one man and one woman. Christians are called to honor God with their bodies, their relationships, and their sexuality.
The Mission of the Church
We believe Jesus Christ has commissioned His church to make disciples of all nations by proclaiming the gospel, baptizing those who believe, and teaching them to obey all that He has commanded. Every believer is called to bear witness to Christ and to participate in making the gospel known to all peoples.
Christ’s Return and Eternity
We believe Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return. The dead will be raised, all people will stand before God in judgment, those who belong to Christ will enjoy eternal life with Him, and those who reject Him will face eternal judgment.
