Somali Christians use online networks to find community

Trans World Radio reports that Somali Christians inside Somalia and across the diaspora are using social media and an online Bible-study network to connect while protecting their identities.

TWR's October 19 report describes Somali believers using TikTok and other online channels to discuss Christianity under pseudonyms. A Somali online Bible study led from the Netherlands is reported to have a network of nearly 500 people, with about 150 expected at its annual conference.

The account is based on interviews with TWR staff and ministry contacts, including protected or at-risk believers. Estimates that Christianity is growing among Somalis are testimony and ministry assessment, not representative demographic measurement, and should not be read as an independently verified population share.
