Eighteen European countries meet in Munich on border control and returns

European governments met in Munich to discuss border management, faster returns, and responses to sudden migration pressure.

Official reports dated September 26 say Germany and counterparts from 17 other European countries participated. EU officials also said irregular migration had fallen about 55% over two years.

The clean formulation is 18 countries represented, because some coverage’s count of 17 appears to exclude the German host. The 55% figure is an official claim whose geographic scope, dates, and denominator should be stated if used.
