Bangladesh–Italy migration is becoming an organized legal labor corridor

Official discussions and labor data point to an increasingly organized legal migration corridor from Bangladesh to Italy.

A September 7 report said Bangladeshi officials estimated about 250,000 Bangladeshis in Italy and envisaged roughly 10,000 legal workers annually, with family migration lifting the total. Officials also said 60–70% of the community originated in Shariatpur and Madaripur.

A separate June 30 report put legal Bangladeshi labor migration to Europe at 18,220 in the first half of 2026, up 46.4%, including 4,645 workers going to Italy. The figures mix official estimates, plans, and administrative labor data rather than independently verified settlement outcomes.
