Pastor Michée turns grief toward healing in Burkina Faso

Open Doors reports that Pastor Michée, whose father and other villagers were killed in an extremist attack, is helping his displaced Christian community process trauma and rebuild communal life.

The attack killed 31 men, including Michée’s father, and destroyed homes and livelihoods in a village whose church had grown to nearly 600 people including children. Michée describes a period of anger and spiritual doubt after the loss.

After receiving trauma care through Open Doors partners, he began helping others address grief and bitterness. Threats remain, so this is a story of endurance rather than improved security.
