Bible translation reaches new September milestones

A September snapshot counted 807 languages with a full Bible, 1,844 with a complete New Testament, and active translation work in 4,414 languages.

Wycliffe UK’s September 1 snapshot recorded gains of two languages each in the full-Bible and New Testament categories. It also listed 543 viable languages, spoken by about 38 million people, where translation work had yet to begin.

Wycliffe USA separately reported 828,766 verses, 24,549 chapters, and 1,431 biblical books completed from January through June 2026. These are institutional project statistics drawn from translation networks, not measures of conversion or independent audits.
