German free churches report renewed growth and baptisms

New statistics from Germany’s Federation of Free Evangelical Churches point to renewed growth and offer an encouraging picture of Protestant life in Europe.

The report says profession-of-faith baptisms across 504 congregations rose from 1,491 to 2,624 over four years, while the number of baptism services increased from 554 to 822.

These are internally collected denominational statistics, not a measure of all German Protestants or proof of a national revival. They are still a concrete, encouraging signal from an identifiable free-church body in secular Western Europe.
