Jesus, has given His followers a command. A call to all that believeth in Him to disciple the nations. On the Mount of Olives, Jesus made His disciples a promise. That our Lord would be with us in this task “to the end of the age.” (Matt 28:18-20) Guided by His hand, people are migrating from some of the most difficult places on earth to reach. Civil war, political instability, and poverty have limited missionary contact with these people and driven them to seek refuge and opportunity in the west.
The Church must understand that in order to fulfill this God given task, it must be strategic in its deployment of resources. Strategically positioning missionaries among the least reached peoples of the world. It must also understand that Gods provision doesn’t always guarantee physical comfort. The mass importation of different cultures comes with many challenges for natives and sojourners alike. The comfort that it must seek is in its ability to honor and obey God, whatever the difficulty and circumstance.
Since 2015, Europe has experienced a refugee crisis. A unique crisis attributable to the sheer number of unreached nations represented in it (see 10/40 window). Italy’s proximity to Africa, the Middle East, and Asia has made it a gateway, a launchpad into Europe for potentially the largest movement of unreached peoples to have ever taken place. As of 2024, Italy hosts approximately 5.3 million migrants in a country less than half the size of Texas.
The Harvest is plentiful, and the workers are few. The Wright family, feeling God’s clear direction, has pursued His path to live and work among the people of Rome, the nation’s capital, leaving past opportunities behind. To share the gospel, disciple new believers, and plant churches. At the heart of this ministry is a school called “Centro Agape.” There, we host worship services, language learning courses, discipleship classes, and community gatherings. A safe place for migrants to come to know our risen savior. The center is located in the Esquilino quarter. An area of Rome that is home to approximately 130 different languages daily. That is 130 different people groups in one location! Making it a hub for missionary efforts. For many migrants, learning the local language is their first step toward assimilation. Centro Agape’s language learning program provides missionaries the opportunity to develop long term relationships with its students. Providing them the time necessary to demonstrate the love of Christ and disciple converts.
It’s shocking to learn that over 3.2 billion people have yet to hear the gospel. Even more shocking is that only 1% of mission giving, and only 3% of missionaries are dedicated to reaching the unreached. All missionary efforts have value in the kingdom of God, as He will leave the 99 for the 1, but we pray that all who hear this message grasp the strategic significance of this particular ministry.
Mr. Wright has personally discipled a former Muslim man from the Pashtun region of Afghanistan—an area known as the birthplace of Al-Qaeda—at Centro Agape in Rome. Since coming to Christ, this Pashtun believer has returned to Afghanistan, where a new bridge to the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been established. Our vision is to disciple the nations through Rome, not merely in Rome. We are not advocates for immigration; we are advocates for Jesus. Our prayer is that every new disciple of Christ would become a missionary to their own people group—whether by sharing the Gospel with friends and family online or by returning home, sometimes through deportation, to proclaim Christ where they came from.
Please pray for our family, and our ministry. Pray for the lost who have yet to hear the name of Jesus. Senders and Goers must work together to fulfill God's command. We invite you to pray and ask God if He is leading you to support our mission financially in this crucial opportunity to disciple the nations.
Many blessings,
The Wright Family
